Junior Summer Camps are offered each year, typically in the June to July timeframe.  Listed below is a description of camps that we've hosted in the past. 

JUNIOR WEEK CAMP #1

Group #1 - Optimist Sailboats ages 7-14


This camp is offered at LLSC to encourage beginners, intermediates and advanced sailors to get their sailing season started with a 4 day camp that focuses on fun, boating safety and the basics of sailing. Intermediate and advanced sailors will be separated and focus on technical skills and racing.

Bring your own boat (boats for charter) 

2017 Camp fees: $250 member / $300 non-member      

Space limited to 20

Group #2 - C420 Sailboat ages 11 to 17 and 110 lbs

(Boats provided) 2017 Camp fees: $300 member / $350 non-member    Space limited to 20

Other Camp Information:

  • Campers provide own lunch, snack is provided in afternoon.
  • Class runs from 9am - 4pm
  • Water bottle, lifejacket, Sunscreen, water shoes (closed toe), towel & change of clothes required.
  • All campers must pass a 'swim check' with a lifejacket and be able to tread water.
  • Friday conclusion for fun awards, 3pm. See-n-sail photo opportunity at 2 pm.
  • Late Fee for registration after May 15th $100
  • Member registration starts 3/15, Non-Member 4/1.

  

Junior Week Camp #2   

8:00 – 7:00pm   5.5 days; *3 pm start on Sunday  

This camp is offered at LLSC to encourage beginners, intermediates and advanced sailors to get sailing training that focuses on fun, boating safety and the basics of sailing including racing. Intermediate and advanced sailors will be separated and focus on technical skills and racing. The end of the week will conclude with racing for all levels and a family style dinner and awards Friday night. Total # of campers limited to 55.

Group #1 - Optimist Sailboats ages 7-14

2017 Camp fees: $350 member / $450 non member   

Group #2 - C420 Sailboat ages 11-17 & 110 lbs

2017 Camp fees: $400 member / $500 non-member   

Space limited to 20 (Boats provided)

Group #3 - Laser 4.7/Radial/Full Sailboat

Ages 12-17 & 110 lbs; bring your own boat 

2017 Camp fees: $350 member / $450 non-member   

Other Camp Information:

  • Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner provided for all campers.
  • Additional weekly parent/sibling meal packages available for $75 adults / $35 for under 10   (16 meals total / 5.5 days)
  • Instructional class runs from 9am - 4:30pm
  • All sailors must be checked in between 8-9 AM and out by 7 PM by a parent/guardian.
  • Camping on club camp grounds encouraged with parents.
  • Parent volunteers required: 1 day of parent volunteer service (or 2 1/2 days) per child registered. If not able to serve $150 fee applies.
  • Rigging certification = Optis and Lasers much check boats in Sunday to confirm all parts present.
  • Water bottle, lifejacket, Sunscreen, water shoes (closed toe), towel & change of clothes required.
  • All campers must pass a 'swim check' with a lifejacket and be able to tread water. This will occur on Sunday afternoon from 3:30-4:30pm.
  • Friday See-n-sail photo opportunity at 2pm. Friday dinner 5pm, camp awards following.
  • Late Fee for registration after May 1st $100
  • Member registration starts 3/15, Non-Member 4/1

  

Junior Adventure Camp #3

 

This camp is offered at LLSC to encourage all sailors to enjoy the lake and experience many different types of boats LLSC has to offer. The focus will be safe and fun on the water while sailing to destinations (ie: Aqualand for ice cream, islands for lunch, etc.) using many boats (ie: Stand Up Paddleboards, Kayaks, Optimist, C420s, Flying Scots, and rides on keel boats).  The goal is to be safe on the water while enjoying the sport of sailing. Juniors will be grouped by ages in different types of boats.

Adventure Sailing Camp ages 7-16

Boats Provided   2017 Camp fees: $350 member / $400 non-member     

Total space limited to 25

Other Camp Information:

  • Water bottle, lifejacket, Sunscreen, water shoes (closed toe), towel & change of clothes required.

Custom Camp Options

If you have a group of 8-16 juniors between the ages of 7 and 16 who would like to participate in camp at LLSC, custom camps are offered.  Typically 3-5 days doing a combination of learn to sail, learn to race with adventure sailing included.  This is a great way to include your friends, scout troops, school friends or family in a rewarding sailing experience at Lake Lanier Sailing Club.
