EMERGENCY OR LIFE THREATING INJURY – STEPS

  1. ASSESS - Render Assistance and Evaluate Situation
  2. COMMUNICATE- Call for Help and Emergency Medical Attention:
    1. Call 9-1-1 for dispatch DNR, Hall County Sherriff/Fire & Rescue
    2. Contact with Organizers – Coaches or PRO – for transport assistance
    3. VHF Channel 16 for assistance from other boats in the vicinity
    4. Call the following for controlling the area – (optional)
      1. USCG Auxiliary Flotilla 29 at 770-841-8388
      2. Tow Boat US for cleanup/salvage at 770-945-2884
  3. RESPOND – Take appropriate emergency rescue action
    1. Administer First Aid
    2. Notify shore location of incoming
  4. COORDINATE recovery activities and communication
    1. Send someone to meet/direct emergency vehicles
  5. RETURN – injured persons to designated landside point
    1. report back to signal boat
    2. Debrief and Inform key people: LLSC Commodore, Waterfront Director and Family of injured

  2. Your name and call back number
  3. What is going on:
  4. Description of Injury and Boats
  5. Where you plan to bring person ashore
  6. Age/Gender/number of people injured
  7. Type injury/situation
