Notice Of Race


2019 Wednesday Night Series I and II

1. Organizing AuthorityThe Lake Lanier Sailing Club (LLSC) Keelboat Fleet is the organizing authority for these sailboat race series.

These Wednesday Night Series will be governed by the Rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS), the PHRF Rules and Regulations as adopted and amended by the Lake Lanier PHRF (LLPHRF) Committee and the class rules of any one-design fleets as established. The US Sailing Prescriptions to RRS 60.3(b), 63.2 and 63.4 will not be in effect.4. EligibilityThe Regatta is open to all auxiliary powered keelboat sailing vessels. All competing vessels must display a sail number on the mainsail. Any boat not displaying a sail number will be scored as DNS. This changes rule 62.1. This will not be grounds for redress.Auxiliary boats sailing in a PHRF fleet must have a valid PHRF Rating issued by the LLPHRF Committee. Applications for a PHRF Rating must be handled directly with the LLPHRF Committee. See the Fleet Website WWW.LLSCKEELBOAT.COM for references to the LLPHRF Committee application and information.

4. Schedule
4.1 Wednesday Night Series IThe warning signal for the Cruising Fleet (1) will be at 6:40 p.m. The warning signal for Fleet 2 will be at 6:55 p.m. All remaining fleet’s warning signals to follow. Races will begin Wednesday April 17th and occur on subsequent Wednesdays through the 19th of June. There will be an awards presentation on June 26th at the LLSC Clubhouse.
4.2 Wednesday Night Series IIThe warning signal for the Cruising Fleet (1) will be at 6:40 p.m. The warning signal for Fleet 2 will be at 6:55 p.m. All remaining fleet’s warning signals to follow. Races will begin Wednesday July 10th and occur on subsequent Wednesdays through the 11th of September. There will be an awards presentation on September 18th at the LLSC Clubhouse.Page 2 of 3
4.3 Wednesday Night QualificationFor each series, one completed race constitutes a series.

5. FleetsFleets may be adjusted on the Sailing Instructions based on the number of boats in eachfleet. We expect to have one Low Sport Boat fleet, three spinnaker fleets, and a cruiserfleet.
5.1 Cruiser FleetsQualifications for the Cruiser Fleet are as follows:Displacement hull with a fixed keel.No spinnakerOne headsail at any time, except for cutter designed sailboatsNo staysailsOperating inboard/outboard engineFunctioning Head and GalleyInterior CushionsDacron sailsRating adjustments will be made by the organizing authority for equipment outside of thequalifications upon request.
5.2 “Nearly One Design” FleetsAll boats will be scored in one of the above fleets. If four or more boats of the same type,with the same PHRF rating, and in the same fleet are registered by the 5 th race of eitherWednesday night series, there will be one additional “one-design” trophy awarded. Thistrophy is given only as a courtesy and does not obligate the boats to any additional classrules other than as required by PHRF.Page 3 of 3

6. RegistrationMembership forms and electronic payments are available at the Fleet Website.Membership dues of $175 may be mailed with application and payment to:Gary Umberger4850 Golden ParkwaySuite B-402Buford, Georgia 30519Members who have not paid their dues by the end of the day of the 1st race in each serieswill not be scored.Skippers are allowed one boat change between series before incurring an additionalregistration and late fee.

7. Sailing InstructionsSailing instructions will be available on the Fleet website and will be emailed to all currentmembers of the Fleet.

8. CoursesCourses will be designated by the Race Committee before each race using permanentCorps and Lake Lanier Sailing Club marks. Starts will be in the vicinity of X mark northeastof Island 18.

9. PrizesTrophies will be awarded based on the number of registrants and finishers in each fleet.

10. Disclaimer of LiabilitySailing is an activity that has an inherent risk of damage and injury. Competitors in thisevent are participating entirely at their own risk. See RRS 4, Decision to Race. The raceorganizers (organizing authority, race committee, protest committee, host club, sponsors,or any other organization or official) will accept any liability for material damage to anyboat or other property or the injury to any competitor, including death, sustained as aresult of participation in this event. By participating in this event, each competitor agreesto release the race organizers from any and all liability associated with such competitor’sparticipation in this event to the fullest extent permitted by law.
