LLSC’s Vern Pickering Commdore’s Cup
September 1st and 2nd, 2018
The Third of Three LLSC Regattas considered for the coveted Triple Crown Award
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.
2 Eligibility and Entry
2.1 Regatta is open to all eligible LLSC members in good standing.
2.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the online registration form in advance of the regatta or may register at check in on Saturday 9/1/2018.
2.3 Auxiliary boats MUST register with a valid Lake Lanier PHRF rating.
2.4 Boat’s LOA must be greater than 10ft.
3 Classes of Boats
3.1 This is a handicap scored regatta.
3.2 Classes and scoring systems will be Portsmouth and PHRF. There will be no separate one design starts. Classes are:
a. PHRF Class–Includes Auxiliary, C22, J22, J24, Melges 24 Fleets and any other eligible keelboat;
b. Portsmouth Class–Includes Flying Scot, 420, Laser, Lightning, MC, Multihull, Sailboard, Snipe and Thistle Fleets; and any other eligible centerboard, multihull or sailboard.
3.3 Three boats must be in the starting area to constitute a Class Start.
3.4 Fleet splits will match those used at the Governor’s Cup.
4.1 On-Site Registration: Opens Saturday 09/01/2018 at 0900 and closes Saturday 09/01/2018 at 1000
4.2 Competitor's Meeting: Saturday 09/01/2018 at 1030
4.3 1st Warning Signal Saturday 09/01/2018 at 1130
4.4 No race will begin later than 1530 on Saturday 09/01/2018
4.5 1st Warning Signal Sunday 09/02/2018 at 1130.

and may be available at Registration/Check in, Saturday 09/01/2018.
4.7. The venue will be Lake Lanier Sailing Club. The racing area will be in or near Chattahoochee Bay.
4.8. The courses will be discussed at the Competitors Meeting.
4.9. Social hour: 1730; Dinner: 1800; Entertainment: ??
8.1 The low point scoring system will be used. All races will be scored. Auxiliaries will be scored using the PHRF rating system using time-on–distance correction factors. Centerboard, Multihull and Sailboards will be scored using the US Sailing Portsmouth Yardstick.
8.2 Each Class must score one race to constitute a regatta for that Class.
9.1 Awards will be as prescribed by the By-Laws and given at the annual awards banquet but small token awards will be presented when scoring is complete on Sunday 09/02/2018..
10. Radio Communication
10.1The race committee will use channel VHF 68 or an alternate designated recreational channel to make courtesy broadcasts. Failure to hear or understand a broadcast will not be grounds for redress. Except in an emergency, a boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to cell phones.
