Frequently Asked Questions
1. What forms of membership are available and how much does it cost?
Regular Membership - This form of membership is appropriate for most. It is intended for those who wish to have full access to the club, facilities, and events. It also allows members to keep boats at the club. The cost for regular membership includes an $800 initiation fee and $660 a year in annual membership fees. In addition, if the member keeps a boat in a wet or dry slip at the club, an additional $750 or $230 a year will apply per slip, respectively. All fees, including the initiation fee, are normally billed on a quarterly basis. In other words, if a regular member has a wet slip, the fees due should be $552.50 per quarter for the first year and $352.50 per quarter for subsequent years.

Intermediate Membership - This form of membership is for those individuals who have not obtained the age of 28. These members will have full access to the club, facilities, and events. These members are also allowed to keep boats at the club. The cost for intermediate membership includes a $240 initiation fee and $396 a year in annual membership fees. In addition, if the member keeps a boat in a wet or dry slip at the club, an additional $750 or $230 a year will apply per slip, respectively. All fees, including the initiation fee, are normally billed on a quarterly basis. In other words, if an intermediate member has a dry slip, the fees due should be $216.50 per quarter for the first year and $156.50 per quarter for subsequent years.

Associate Membership - This form of membership is intended for those individuals who are interested in participating in the social activities and crewing on boats. These individuals will not be allowed to keep property at the club. Associate members cannot hold office or vote on club matters. This form of membership is only valid for a period of 2 years when they must either become a regular or social member (see bylaws.) The cost for associate membership includes a $400 initiation fee and $330 a year in annual membership fees. Since the member cannot keep property at the club, no slip fee is assessed with this form of membership.

Student Membership - This form of membership for those individuals who can longer fall under their parents membership (over 21, but less than 28) and are full time students. These individuals are allowed to keep boats at the club. The cost for student membership includes a $40 initiation fee and a $220 a year in annual membership fees. In addition, if the member keeps a boat in a wet or dry slip at the club, an additional $750 or $230 a year will apply per slip, respectively. All fees, including the initiation fee, are normally billed on an annual basis.

For complete details on membership please see the Constitution and ByLaws.
2. I would like a wet slip. Can I move my boat over immediately upon membership approval?
Because LLSC is a club and not a marina, we are limited by the Corps of Engineers in our slip capacity. As a result, in most instances we are completely full with wet slips. However, a process is in place allowing members to be placed on a waiting list for a wet slip once approved for membership. A $100 non-refundable deposit must be sent to the Harbormaster to be placed on the waiting list and slips will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. There is little insight as to the length of wait. If you do not have a trailer and have to have a wet slips, alternate arrangements should be made.
3. I would like a dry slip. Can I move my boat over immediately upon membership approval?
Historically, there has been no problem getting immediately assigned to a dry slip.
4. How do I become a member?
Membership requires sponsorship by two current club members. If you already know members of the club who are willing to sponsor you, you will need to download the application form, fill it out, have these members sponsor you, and send the application to the new membership chairman. If you do not know any members of the club, you will need to Contact the Membership Chairman and he or she will get you in touch with some members who will interview you and may become your sponsors.
5. Can I bring my pet to the club?
Unfortunately, the club does not allow pets on club property.
