Frequently Asked Questions
Lake Lanier Sailing Club, Inc. is a private, family oriented club that is involved in all aspects of the sport of sailing with a special emphasis on racing. The Club is located on a beautiful lake-front compound near Flowery Branch, Georgia, with a large clubhouse, campground, beach, bathing facilities, 88 wet slips, and dry storage facilities that accommodate more than 200 trailered boats. Members compete in numerous One-Design, Portsmouth / Dinghy and Auxiliary / PHRF fleets at local, regional and national levels. LLSC also has a very active Junior Sailing program, organized as a 501(c)(3) corporation. We are affiliated with the US Sailing Association, South Atlantic Yacht Racing Association and Dixie Inland Yacht Racing Association.

1. What forms of membership are available?
Regular Membership - This form of membership is appropriate for most. It is intended for those who wish to have full access to the club, facilities, and events. It also allows members to keep boats at the club. The cost for regular membership includes an initiation fee and annual membership fees. Wet or dry slip fees are additional. All fees are normally billed on a quarterly basis.

Intermediate Membership - This form of membership is for those individuals who have not obtained the age of 28. These members will have full access to the club, facilities, and events. These members are also allowed to keep boats at the club.

Associate Membership - This form of membership is intended for those individuals who are interested in participating in the social activities and crewing on boats. These individuals will not be allowed to keep property at the club. Associate members cannot hold office or vote on club matters. This form of membership is only valid for a period of 2 years when they must either become a regular or social member.

Student Membership - This form of membership for those individuals who can longer fall under their parents membership (over 21, but less than 28) and are full time students. These individuals are allowed to keep boats at the club.
2. I would like a wet slip. Can I move my boat over immediately upon membership approval?
LLSC is a club and not a marina. We are limited by the Corps of Engineers in our slip capacity. As a result, in most instances our wet slip capacity is completely full. A process is in place allowing members to be placed on a waiting list for a wet slip once approved for membership. A non-refundable deposit must be sent to the Harbormaster to be placed on the waiting list and slips will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. There is little insight as to the length of wait. If you do not have a trailer and have to have a wet slip, alternate arrangements should be made.
3. I would like a dry slip. Can I move my boat over immediately upon membership approval?
Historically, there has been no problem getting immediately assigned to a dry slip, however circumstances vary.
4. How do I become a member?
Membership requires sponsorship by two current club members. If you already know members of the club who will sponsor you, you will need to obtain an application form, fill it out, have these members sponsor you, and send the application to the Membership Chair. If you do not know any members of the club, you will need to Contact the Membership Chair and he or she will get you in touch with some members who will interview you and may become your sponsors.
5. Can I bring my pet to the club?
The club does not allow pets on club property.
6. I'd like to learn more - what should I do next?
Contact the Membership Chair!
